A clean, open bloom with a dark centre that makes every colour around it look sharper. Anemones close at night and open again in the morning, which people notice and enjoy.
Anemones drink more than almost anything else we sell, and they continue to grow after cutting. Check the water level every day rather than every other day; a vase that looked full last night can be near empty by morning.
Recut the stems cleanly and change the water every two days.
Expect them to move. The stems lengthen and lean, and the flowers close in the evening and reopen with the light. An arrangement of anemones is a different shape at breakfast than it was at dinner.
Keep them cool and out of direct sun, which makes them open too far too fast.
Anemones open and close with the light, shutting at night and through dark weather, and reopening the next morning.
