Caring for your chrysanthemums

Chrysanthemums are among the most reliable flowers you can buy, and almost all of their problems come from foliage rather than flowers. Strip every leaf that would sit below the waterline, and be generous about it.

Recut the stems at an angle. The stems are semi-woody, so a firm sharp cut works better than scissors that crush.

Change the water every three days. If the water clouds, change it immediately.

They do not need warmth to open and they hold their shape rather than blowing wide, so they change very little as the days pass. Remove individual heads as they brown and the rest carry on.
