Waxy, substantial orchid blooms in greens, creams and burgundies, often used as single heads in bridal work and corsages because they hold up so well out of water.
Recut the stems at an angle and use room-temperature water. Change it every four or five days.
Cymbidiums are the sturdiest of the cut orchids and hold up with almost no attention.
Keep them away from cold drafts and out of direct sun.
Individual blooms can be cut from the spray and floated in a shallow bowl of water. This is a good way to use the last few flowers once the spray has thinned out.
Cymbidium blooms survive for hours out of water, which is why they are the traditional choice for corsages and buttonholes.
