Caring for your mokara orchids

Recut the stems at an angle and use room-temperature water.

Change the water every four or five days. They are undemanding and hold up with very little attention, which makes them a good choice for an office or a room you are not in every day.

Keep them away from cold drafts and direct air conditioning.

The blooms at the base of the spray go over first while the tip is still opening. Snip off spent flowers individually and the spray keeps its shape.

Mokara is a man-made hybrid of three orchid genera, bred in Singapore in the 1960s specifically to be a better cut flower.
