Spray Rose

Flower care guide

Spray Rose

Several small roses on a single branching stem. They fill an arrangement with the same shape and colour as a large rose but at a smaller scale, which is why designers reach for them constantly.

Caring for your spray roses

Recut the main stem at an angle and remove foliage below the waterline, as with any rose.

Because each stem carries blooms at different stages, spray roses look good for longer than a single-head rose, but they need a little editing. As the earliest bloom on a stem fades, pinch it off at its own small stalk. This tidies the arrangement and pushes the plant's energy into the buds still to come.

Change the water every two days. Spray roses have a lot of small foliage and it fouls water faster than you would expect.

One spray rose stem can carry five or more blooms, each opening on its own schedule so the stem stays in flower for longer.
