Veronica

Flower care guide

Veronica

A tapering spire of tiny flowers that gives an arrangement height and movement. Where round flowers make an arrangement solid, veronica makes it breathe.

In season

Late spring through autumn.

Also known as

Speedwell

Caring for your veronica

Recut the stems at an angle and remove the lower leaves, which are plentiful and foul the water quickly.

Change the water every two or three days.

The spike opens from the bottom upward. The very tip sometimes dries and browns before the lower flowers have finished; simply snip the brown tip off and the spike looks intact again.

Keep them out of direct sun and away from heat, which makes the spikes run through their flowering too fast.

Veronica opens from the bottom of the spike upward, so the tip is still in bud when the base is in full flower.
