Summer to Autumn Flowers

Summer to Autumn Flowers

At this time of year, we gaze longingly at the last playful days of summer and look eagerly toward the upcoming fall. The beginning of a new school year, Halloween, and even Thanksgiving are in our thoughts as the cider mills start producing this year’s exquisite batch, bags of Macintosh apples fill the stores and we eagerly anticipate the smell of cooking cinnamon and clove.

As your gaze moves onward from the beach to the pumpkin patch, you might want to redecorate in keeping with the season. And we have several recommendations for floral designs that suit the new season’s flair transitioning your summer to autumn flowers. Fall’s Harvest Colors.

The summer sun, with the associated palette of beachy pinks, blues and corals, falls away in Autumn in favor of a new earthy palette of oranges, yellows, reds and wheats. Chrysanthemum, anemone, orchids, lilies, roses, cockscomb, gerbera daisies, lavender and alstromeria are merely a small example of the autumn flowers available to you for your vase arrangements. While we haven’t hit the height of autumn yet, look to a base palette of harvest tones highlighted with a rainbow of bright colors.

Our beautiful Thrill arrangement incorporates summery greens and blues with the deeper orange and brown tones of fall. And our Bewitch design’s bright orange roses capture the spirit of the new season without losing that glowing summery tropical feel personified in a glorious burgundy Anthurium leaf. Finding Inspiration in the Autumn Weather If you’re more inclined to enjoy a cooler palette, the fall is a time for brisk winds, crisp azure skies, cool rain-showers and the first rimes of frost on the windows. In these things, you can find your inspiration.

Our Beauty arrangement is created for these calm misty days, resplendent in soft whites, blues and purples highlighted with a center of gentle yellow roses. The Enchant bouquet, with its white roses overlooking the lush green cymbidium and anthurium, could be symbolic of that first snowfall as it gently lays on the top of summer’s bounty. No matter your choices or inclination, bright or subdued, large or small, flowers boost the spirit and remind us of the beauty that surrounds us. And during the Autumn season, they’re a shining example of this world’s rich harvest.
